OT: The Night Stalker

by Horace LaBadie <hwlabadiejr@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 29, 2005 at 11:55 PM

Spotnitz's version of "Kolchak." Gosh, it was boring. It seemed to
borrow from everything from "Psycho" to a couple of episodes of Buffy
("The Prom" and "Prophecy Girl") and even Indiana Jones, and then there
were all the X-File/MM folks, and...well, it just went on and on without
doing anything original or even mildly interesting. Worse, it didn't do
anything with the character of Carl Kolchak. There was nothing to make
the viewer beleive that this is a good re****ter. He didn't even care
about writing the story. Kolchak's charm in the original was his
journalistic integrity. The story might be suppressed, but not by
Kolchak. He had a passion to find the story and tell it. This new guy
has an obsession, but it's not one that engages anybody but himself, and
he doesn't seem to care all that much, either. I can't see how this will
catch on, or last even as long as the original. The FBI guy seems more
interesting.
