I think you got it 100% correct. There are a few exceptionally bad,
corny,
cheap-looking parts. Those aside, they did an awful lot of right moves.
They held faith with the general intent of the original show, while at the
same time updating a number of elements, such as the general level of
brutality and the more international cast. The two female team members
were
just right - tough, super-***y, smart, and assertive. They even took care
to throw in some emergency or "non-mission" Missions, at least one of
which,
I remember, was electrifying.
The second series wasn't as good as the first, it's true, but that's
hardly
a surprise. It was, however, a creditable addition, unlike the
nearly-unrelated films.
