You're kind of half/half on this. Your point about parental
responsibility
is well noted, but the "parent" is the creator and the "child" is the
creation. It is a creator/creation relation****p which is made clear even
in
the book's subtitle: A Modern Day Prometheus. Like Prometheus, old Vic
tries to play God and creates life, but not quite a success, and he
suffers
for it.
