What a blast this concert was!!! It was really amazing and worth every
single yen of its price. For my first Anison concert, it was great
experience!
First of all, I had to go to ****buya O-East earlier in the afternoon,
so I saw some of the singers as they were coming: Yoffy from Psychic
Lover, New Jack Takurou (both accompanied by people in charge of their
clothes). Then Yukio Yamagata came with a big white Toyota car. ^_^"
The event was to begin at 18:00, but at 16:30 the entrance was already
full of people. Most of them were not so young, actually, and there
were some really old guys dressed as the main character from JAKQ (Big
One), some other cosplay was amusing as well. Interesting though, some
of the people recognized me, since I was last week at MoJo's
mini-live in Komae (where I met him, btw).
Everything was recorded for the making of the DVD, which will be
released on January 24. However I suppose that Shocker's MC talk and
chat with the singers will be cut out. Too bad, it's fun.
I was surprised to find out that O-East is actually a bar. There are
bars on the balcony, at the back of first floor, on the left and right
sides. The stage is just an add-on to the bar atmosphere. Yet it was
crowded, I was told that O-East manages about 1200 people. I really got
the meaning of "tama****i ga moeru!" ("spirits are burning!"),
because the temperature inside is the same as in mid-summer, and you
are literally burning, even after placing your coat in the lockers. I
was almost at the back of first floor, yet it was a nice place.
Shocker Ohno was the first one to appear, greeting the crowd. Then all
of a sudden, the first song began, and the singer jumped on stage:
1. "GouGou Sentai Boukenger" by NoB
Yep, that's right, this time the set list was backwards! From the
newest song back to the oldies. NoB was dressed with the same clothes
as in the Boukenger video clip. He's so much into rock singing, he
has a unique appeal of his own. Great performance!
2. "Boukensha On the Road" by Psychic Lover
Yoffy and Joe from Psychic Lover rushed on stage, to perform this very
nice (in my opinion) song. I must admit that Yoffy sounds very good
when you listen to him live, and Joe's face is more like a girl's
face... ^_^"" But they surely do a nice show together.
Here Shocker came once again, explaining that in Boukenger there are
many insert and image songs performed by the singers present at this
concert, but if they have to sing all, it'd turn into "Super
Boukenger Spirits". Yet, one of them will be performed:
3. "Bouken Punch!" by Mitsuko Horie
Here came a very cute and childish-looking Micchi, with an even cuter
hairdo and pink clothes (that was a nice trick, for comparison with her
later performance!). She did Bouken Punch, a song that the crowd
enjoyed, but didn't know much about. No one would say that Micchi is
getting 50-years-old just in a few months, she looks so young, and most
of the later comments during MC talk were about that.
4. "Jumon Kourin~ Magical Force" by Sister Mayo
Next came Sister Mayo with two girls dancing for her. The crowd was
very excited with this catchy song. Maybe Micchi would have been a
better singer for that piece, but Sister Mayo did her job, and we liked
her.
5. "Mahou Sentai Magiranger" by Takafumi Iwasaki
Iwasaki and his big guitar were in charge of Magiranger's OP, and I
must admit it was quite good. The guy sings with great enthusiasm, and
he definitely doesn't lack confidence.
Here Shocker came and called Micchi, Sister Mayo, NoB, Iwasaki and
Psychic Lover on stage. He presented them one by one, and they had some
nice chat together. Shocker said they're the young ones, and next are
their "sempai-tachi", although the biggest sempai - Micchi -
was already among them.
6. "Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger" by Psychic Lover
Yet another exciting performance, those two really make a good show.
7. "Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger" by Masaaki Endou
Endou came, in his most casual clothes, yet he looked as handsome as
ever, and the girls in the crowd started shouting. He did again the
spinning while performing the chorus, just like during last SSS
concert.
8. "We Are the One!" by Akira Ku****da
This is a song that Japanese fans absolutely love, it was its own uniqe
way of dancing (that is, moving hands in the air). I saw a very
different Ku**** this time, I've never seen him so enthusiastic,
putting so much energy and emotion in any performance. He gave his best
for this song. Much better than 2 years ago.
9. "Nunpuu Sentai Hurricanger" by Hideaki Takatori
I kept wondering whether Takatori had a new hairstyle. He was very
enthusiastic and energetic as well, I can say this performance was
better than last time.
10. "Gaoranger Hoero!" by Yukio Yamagata
The Beast came out from the darkness! I never believed the crowd liked
him so much, he was much applaused during this performance and the MC
talk later. Yamagata (or Gao, as Shocker calls him) is a stage actor
actually, and that's what makes his performance extremely attractive.
He was dressed the same way as last time, but he had added a big scarf
of black feathers. The song itself was better, especially in the
screaming parts. I should also mention that Gaoranger is my fav sentai
OP. ~^o^~ After Yamagata, all of a sudden...
11. "White Light~ GaoWhite no Teema" by Mitsuko Horie
There came a *very* different Micchi, with a much more adult look,
dressed all in white, with white hairlocks. She did an excellent
performance of this song. However, I felt that for the second time the
crowd didn't react much. The problem was that Micchi performed image
songs, which are generally not so popular - especially during this
one I felt like the only one who knew the song and the only one singing
along the chorus. It's quite regrettable, because the performance was
very professional.
Shocker came again and called Yamagata, Takatori, Endou and Ku****da on
stage, for another chat-session. It's hard to believe it, but Gao the
Beast is a rather shy person.
12. "Gosei Sentai Dairanger" by New Jack Takurou
New Jack Takurou came from behind the band, from beneath the stage. His
appeal was much stronger this time, and maybe because I like Dairanger
OP too much, I felt like this performance was better than 2 years ago.
New Jack Takurou was putting more efforts anyway.
13. "Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger" by Kenta Satou
This was a nice one, although I personally don't think Kenta Satou is
such a good singer; sometimes he gets on the wrong notes (yeah, Yoffy
and Iwasaki don't, btw).
14. "Choujin Sentai Jetman" by Hironobu Kageyama
This was the time when the crowd exploded! Kageyama makes everyone
scream even without doing anything; his charisma is extremely powerful,
and he's truly the master of good show. Whatever he sings, he's
magnificent.
Here Shocker came again to present the next singer, who was no other
than...
15. "Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman" by Kenji Suzuki
The guy is pretty much the same age as New Jack Takurou, yet he looks
very confident. He's the calm type; doesn't run or jump while
singing, but he did a very nice performance of this song, and the next:
16. "Fiveman Ai no Teema" by Kenji Suzuki
I thought this one suited Kenji Suzuki even better.
17. "Kousoku Sentai Turboranger" by Kenta Satou
Kenta was dressed again like his character in Turboranger, and he
really enjoyed this song more than Zyuranger. We enjoyed it as well.
18. "Hikari Sentai Maskman" by Hironobu Kageyama
What else to say - another blast by Kageyama, the crowd really goes
crazy when he's on stage. And he is so good! After that song he said
he'd like to perform an insert song from Maskman, and the next one
was:
19. "Aura ni Kagayake! Great Five" by Hironobu Kageyama
Recently there has been disputes in Internet message boards whether or
not to include insert/image songs in these SSS concerts. Most of the
people seem to dislike that, since they're not familiar with the
songs (lame, I'd say, you should be there to pay respect to the
singer, whatever he performs!). I guess Micchi's earlier songs and
this Maskman one were just to test if such stuff p***** or not. Well,
from what I saw, it doesn't, and it's quite regrettable.
20. "Chou****nsei Flashman" by Taku Kitahara
Wow, that was a very different Kitahara! He had a new hairstyle,
dressed with a T-****rt with John Lennon's face on it (at least I
think it was him, couldn't see it well) and ripped jeans. He looked
like an old rock fan. "Old" is unfortunately at its right place
here, because Kitahara seemed really aged compared to the others. But
what a blast his performance was! He enjoyed it much.
Somewhere at this time (actually I don't remember quite well) Shocker
came and called Kageyama, Kenta Satou, New Jack Takurou, Taku Kitahara
and Kenji Suzuki on stage for chat. It was exactly during this chat
when Shocker said that a lot of sentai actors and staff are on the
balcony, watching the concert: among them actors from Dairanger,
Carranger, Gaoranger, Boukenger, and Kazuo Niibori himself! I
couldn't see them from my place, but the crowd was very excited.
21. "Dengeki Sentai Changeman" by Hironobu Kageyama
Yet another extremely powerful song. Afterwards, Kageyama went into
presenting the ending:
22. "Never Stop Changeman" by Hironobu Kageyama
And it was just as great as the previous ones.
23. "Chouden**** Bioman" by Takayuki Miyauchi
Miyauchi came out dressed in something I'd call pajama, but he truly
amazed me with the easy way he produces his magnificent voice. He's
not even making any efforts, the voice just comes out by itself. A
great singer, indeed. And this performance was much better than the one
at last SSS.
24. "Biomic Soldier" by Takayuki Miyauchi
Another song the crowd loves and enjoys. Miyauchi's good, to say the
least.
25. "Kagaku Sentai Dynaman" by MoJo
Ah, at last MoJo came, and the crowd exploded with the dynamite song! I
felt that everyone loves MoJo, he was constantly getting applauses,
much more than Miyauchi, for example. But then, his singing keeps
improving with every concert!
After this song Shocker came and called MoJo and Miyauchi. Shocker is
actually their manager, and they talked a bit about their upcoming
private concerts. Then Shocker began asking the crowd if there were
people from Tokyo, Kansai, Hokkaido, etc., and there were people from
all over the country... and abroad, hehe!
26. "Yume o Kanaete Dynaman" by MoJo
Yep, we got Dynaman's ending live, and it was good. MoJo said he's
never performed that song in front of so many people. Then he went
to...
27. "Dai Sentai Goggle V" by MoJo
Another very energetic performance that excited the crowd a lot. MoJo
is amazing.
28. "Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan" by Akira Ku****da
For the second time Ku**** was more energetic than ever. He was truly
enjoying the show and all the people who were there. He did the
"eagle, shark, panther" pose in the middle of the song. After that
piece, he said he'd perform the ending, but this time the other
ending:
29. "Wakasa wa Plasma" by Akira Ku****da
And he did as good as he did the previous songs. Ku**** was amazingly
attractive tonight!
Here came Shocker with the surprising information that Ken Narita
(Denziman's singer) is up there in the balcony, watching the show.
Shocker said he hoped next time Narita would be down on stage to sing.
30. "Battle Fever J" by MoJo
The interesting thing in that performance is that MoJo tried to use the
same voice as in the recording (and it's different from Dynaman's
and Goggle V's). There was some small mistake in the second part of
the song, when MoJo missed the right time to sing, but it was as great
as everything else from him tonight.
Shocker came to present Isao Sasaki and the crowd went crazy, everyone
was shouting "Isao! Isao!". They really love him.
31. "JAKQ Dengekitai" by Isao Sasaki
Funny but Isao is more into dancing than singing. Of course, his
singing is superb and flawless, but he makes it so obvious he wants to
dance, that is moving his long legs and butt in a rather comic than
***y (as it should be) way. The guy is about 65, and he is full of
energy.
32. "Someday Flowers will Bloom" by Isao Sasaki
Isao went into singing JAKQ's ending theme, a slow and beautiful
tune. Afterwards, he called Micchi on stage, and she came dressed in
white and red, just like Isao. They talked a bit about the time they
first met so many years ago, and then proceeded to perform the first
opening in sentai history.
33. "Susume! Goranger" by Isao Sasaki and Mitsuko Horie
It was kind of the focus of the entire concert, everyone enjoyed this
song, because they had waited for it all the time.
Isao and Micchi went backstage, together with the band, and we all
started shouting for encore. It was quite long, maybe about 5 minutes,
until Shocker came out asking us "Aren't you tired already?". He
called all the singers on stage, and first went into presenting the
band's members one by one, then the back singers - ApplePie and The
Kinds. After that Shocker explained how the first Anison concert
(Robonation in 1997) had only 4 singers (Mizuki, Micchi, Kage, MIO) and
about 20 songs. And today, we had 34 songs from than 21 sentai series!
Shocker mentioned he "had heard" (hehe!) that next year's sentai
OP would be composed by Takafumi Iwasaki. It was time for the last
song.
34. "Himitsu Sentai Goranger" by Isao Sasaki and all cast
Everyone was singing, it was very amusing with its "banbaraban
banban" and the special arm move.
That was the end of the concert. It's absolutely worth getting the
DVD of it.
I'd like to thank all the singers for this amazing show they made!
Thank you!
