I honestly don't see any reason why there couldn't be a "Sliders" made-
for-TV movie on the Sci Fi Channel. I'm not asking for a theatrical
release or a whole new series. I'd just like to see a true final
chapter to give us fans some real closure.
The first thing you'd need to do is get Cleavant Derricks under
contract to play Rembrandt, and the movie could pick up with what
happened to him. I think he'd probably agree to do it, but if not,
then approach Kari Wuhrer. With her, I guess you could have her
somehow find a way to slide after Rembrandt to see what happened to
him and take things from there. Maybe Diana could build Maggie a new
timer or something. If neither Derricks or Wuhrer would do the movie,
then it wouldn't work, but I'm sure at least one of them would agree.
Once you have one of them on board to start with, contact all the
other Sliders about appearing and sign whoever you can to be in it.
Give everybody some sort of chance to appear if they're willing to
because there are ways to work everybody in. For example, I doubt
you'd be able to get Quinn or the Professor, but if you did, write
them in as versions of the characters from parallel Earths that
somehow meet up with Maggie or Remy during the course of the movie
since the original characters are dead and gone. Hopefully, at least
one or two actors would sign up, and then we'd have a real last
chapter. Shoot, even if the movie just had Rembrandt or Maggie in it,
at least we'd know the final resolution of the saga.
That's what I think anyway.
