Should I get an outdoor antenna?

by us <go@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 10, 2008 at 11:30 AM

My DVD recorder takes its input from a set of $20 rabbit
ears. They sit right beside the TV, about 2 feet off the
floor.

Typically the signal is 94-95%, or whatever that number is
supposed to mean. I do a couple of scheduled OTA
recordings each week, and most of the time they are solid
as a rock. But every once in a while, I get some very
nasty breakup and audio loss, making the recording pretty
unsatisfying. Maybe it's wind, bad weather or something.

The thing is, I am within couple of miles of all the towers
that matter. And less than a quarter mile from the PBS
tower, which is the only one that really matters to me. I
can see it looking out across my front yard.

So, do you think an outdoor antenna would make any
difference (i.e. 100% versus 80% recording integrity)?
