Re: Amazon.com TV Purchase - 1080P question

by "WGD" <wgd.roaming@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 22, 2008 at 07:32 PM

Rog' suggested looking at, reviewing product through LCDTVs.com. I did
and
found a SONY 46" Bravia.

Maybe an Old-Hat question - but . . . . Specs say: Progressive Scan:
Progressive scanning (line doubling)

I thought progressive scan was literally what we used to call
non-interlaced. Period. I also thought that line doubling was one of the

ways to up-convert. Therefore, what is SONY saying here? Is this model
capable of reproducing a "true" 1080 *non-interlaced* (1080P) lines. Or
is
*real* 1080P still a bit of smoke 'n mirrors, that source material is, at
max, 1080I ? Sorry for the HDTV 101 question!
