  Which demonstrates a problem with grossly undersized protectors;
directly traceable to human failure.  MOV manufacturers provide charts
that relate number of pulses, pulse current, and pulse time for MOV
degradation.  Degradation - not va****ization.  An MOV degrades
(remains functional) when its voltage changes by 10%.  Degradation
defines life expectancy.  If an MOV is so grossly undersized -
violates Absolute Maximum Parameters - then a human has installed
grossly undersized protection.  A problem found in some plug-in
protectors.   Manufacturers are clear about this.  For an MOV to
explode, it must violate a datasheet spec called "Absolute Maximum
Parameters".  MOV should never be located where parameters can be
exceeded.  What can exceeded parameters cause?  Some examples:

  MOV must only degrade.  Remain functional.   An example of a

No where does exploding appear in that chart.  BDK saw exploding
MOVs.  He assumed rather than first learn from the science.  Same
logic also created this popular myth, "My surge protector sacrificed
itself to save my computer."  Grossly undersized is but one problem
with plug-in protectors manufactured to maximize profits.

  A properly designed 'whole house' protector earths direct lightning
strikes and remains functional.  Properly designed protection means
humans need not know the existance of a surge.  'Whole house'
protectors are available from more responsible companies listed
elsewhere.  Grossly undersized protectors may even explode; threaten
human life.  An MOV explodes when grossly undersized - a complete
violation of manufacturer's Absolute Maximum Parameters.
