A VCR, and only a VCR plugged into a surge protector is more than it 
should/could handle? I had some others that had much more current being 
drawn from them, but on most of them, because of my furniture 
arrangement, there was just the one VCR or sat receiver, or TV, or DVD 
player plugged in a protector. These weren't junk protectors, they were 
from Tripp-Lite and others, and were pretty expensive. Not that I paid 
for them, the place I worked at moved to new headquarters, and tossed 
hundreds of them, many never used, into the dumpster, and bought 
IDENTICAL new ones. That's "Cor****ate Logic" for you. They also dumped, 
and I fished out, hundreds of reams of copy paper. Ten years later, I am 
still using it, and I gave half of it away to friends of mine! It's 
almost gone now, only about 10 reams left to go..

I took home about 50 of those protectors one morning, about 3/4ths of 
them still in the shrink wrap. I kept about 20 of them, gave the rest 
away.


BTW, the VCR was a goner too. Dead as a rock. Smoked.
