  Tripplite is an ineffective protector as described previously.
Where is its dedicated earthing wire?  Why does it have quality?
Because a myth purveryor said so?  Because it sells at a higher
price?  No earth ground means no effective protection.

  How to get the naive to believe "higher quality"?  Sell same
protector for a higher price.  Monster Cable sells the equivalent $7
grocery store protector for $150.  $150 means it must be higher
quality?  Take a $3 power strip.  Add some $0.10 parts and the word
Tripplite.  Sell it for $25.  Tripplite is not in the list of
responsible companies that include Intermatic, Siemens, GE, etc.
Tripplite is an example of protectors that maximize profits.

  Tripplite is not in a list of responsible manufacturers making
effective 'whole hosue' protectors.  How to identify an ineffective
protector?  1) No dedicated wire for earthing.  2) Manufaturer avoids
all discussion of earth ground.  Both 1) and 2) apply to that
Tripplite protector.

   Does connecting more appliance to a protector strain that
protector?  No.  Remove the VCR plug from that power strip
receptacle.  Connect VCR to that other duplex AC wall receptacle.
Proetctor circuit and power connections to VCR remains unchanged.
There is no magic inside the box between AC wall receptacle and VCR.
When a VCR is plugged into a power strip, that VCR is connected
directly to AC mains.  Protection circuits do not work harder with one
or even six appliances connected.

  A protector is only as effective as its earth ground. Where is a
Tripplite spec that claims protection from the typically destructive
surge?  Tripplite does not make that claim and yet Tripplite is
somehow quality?   If it costs more money, then it is quality?  More
money proves it must be better?  No.  Technology - not money - defines
quality.  Quality protectors, that are also sufficiently sized, have
that short and dedicated connection to earth.  Tripplite has no such
connection.
