Concrete (more conductive than earth) embedded with steel (even a
better conductor).  ESB's frame IS earth ground.  When above antennas
are struck, where does the surge go?  Into electronics destructively?

  Why do we know so much about effective lightning protection?  Both
Westinghouse and GE research atop the Empire State Building was in the
1930s.  Effective protection from direct lightning strikes is that
old, understood, and proven.  In every case, a protection system -
especially for electronics with 25 strikes atop the ESB - is about
earthing surges.  A protector only as effective as that earth ground.

  When your same question was answered previously, did you bother to
read those professional studies?  Or do what Jer does - ignore facts
to keep entertaining wild speculations and junk science?   Why am I
answering this same question again?

  For same reasons, the WTC was struck 40 times annually without
damage.  Again, surges so well earthed that nothing inside the WTC
suffered damage.  Effective surge protection as proven by 1930s GE and
Westinghouse researchers.  Protection is about earthing - not about
some obcenely overpriced and grossly undersized plug-in protector.
Every responsible source defines earthing as essential to protection.
So why am I answering your same question and providing sources
(reasons for why) again?
