I'm trying to connect a HDMI switch to my Sharp Aquos LC-30HV4U and
I'm not having any luck. I'm not doing this to improve the picture
quality as I'm very happy with it using DVI or component, I just want
to get rid of the jumble of component cables that I'm using now to
connect the DVD player (Philips DVP5982) which has component and a
HDMI ****t.
I realize that by using a mixed HDMI/DVI configuration I will still
need separate cables for the sound but that will still be less cables
than component.
The LC-30HV4U has all the connection ****ts on a separate box called an
AVC. The AVC has component ****ts and a DVI in ****t. I have a DVI cable
connecting from the cable provider STB to the DVI in ****t on the AVC.
Then a DVI cable and a MDP-20 cable connecting the AVC to the picture
panel.
The HDMI switch I'm using is an Octava 3x1. I have tried the following
connection with DVI to HDMI cables:
AVC/DVI------>HDMI/SWITCH/HDMI----->DVI/PICTURE PANEL
With this setup I get a blue screen and the light on the AVC flashes
red/green. It looks as if the AVC cannot detect the panel.
I have also tried:
STB/DVI---->HDMI/SWITCH/HDMI--->DVI/AVC/DVI--->DVI/PANEL
With this setup I get a black screen. The AVC is able to detect the
panel ok but I don't get a picture.
I have read a few threads where people have been able to connect a
Sharp Aquos to a HDMI switch but with other models. Just wondering if
anybody with a Sharp Aquos LC-30HV4U has been successfull.
Thank You
