    Each situation is different. I have an HDTV with built-in tuner that
    is fed by an directional amplified antenna. I live in a third floor
walkup
    surrounded  by trees with and a hills to the NW. Without amplification
    I get 2 or 3 stations I don't watch. With amp. I get more than a
dozen.
    Your best bet is to experiment with antennas you can return. Finally,
    analog reception is a weak predictor of digital reception. I get snow
    on analog ABC-6(New Bedford, MA) while pulling in ABC-6-DT with
    little effort.
