Not before just now. That does look like an interesting device. And it
is
real component (not just S-video which some people incorrectly label as
component).

It says "up to 1080i". I hope that includes 1080p24 and 1080p30, too.
Maybe the next model will even do 1080p60 (cable and satellite providers
do have the spectrum to service an ultra premium channel with such a high
demand).

The data rate is low. But I guess H.264 is MPEG4 so that is probably the
right number.

It would be nice if it could alternatively encode in ATSC trans****t format
as well as MPEG4/IO or maybe even HDV.

It would be nice if it integrated an ATSC tuner, especially if it can
convert the ATSC trans****t into H.264. OTOH, there are plenty of ATSC
tuners for PCs.

It would be nice if it had HDMI (sans HDCP) input, too, but I know that
would add to the cost and not provide much benefit.

It would be nice if it had video OUTPUT (e.g. decoder). But maybe that is
best done in a separate box or just a graphics card. Note the component
out is "loop".

Unfortunately for me, this comes from a company with a reputation of being
unfriendly to Linux users (people like me that prefer to have full control
of their computers instead of handing it over to Microsoft and a cadre of
internet hackers/spammers). But I'll do some searching and check it out.
