Oppos are superb players, from a number of standpoints.  But are you 
sure that you are really going to benefit from an upconverted signal?

I can have my Oppo feed a conventional NTSC or PAL DVD signal to my 
Epson projector with Farouja image processing.  There is virtually no 
difference if I tell the Oppo to upconvert the signal to 1080.  In fact, 
I lose control over some projector features when it's getting a 1080 
signal, such as properly displaying a 4:3 image.

So I turned the Oppo's upconverting off and there's absolutely no 
difference in quality.  And my display is a 10' diagonal picture.
