  There are re****tedly new model Profile 1.1/2 Sony and Samsung Blu-ray
players coming out in the next several months. I have not seen re****ts
of price cuts, but with the drop in Blu-ray player sales, I think that
is likely. But aggressive price cuts are not likely until the Xmas
shopping season and maybe not even then. The manufacturers are still
licking their financial wounds from the format war.

  I am not that concerned whether the player is $300 or $400; $500 is
probably my upper limit. I can always wait for a sale to save some
money. I have been waiting for the new models to come out, so I can at
least have Profile 1.1 compatibility for some degree of future proofing.
The Internet access Profile 2.0 stuff does not interest me much at all,
because I expect they plan to use it for "revenue enhancement" (ie
charge for mostly pointless extras).
