I have used Pinnacle Studio ver9 and ver10 (ver.11 is $49 USD). Version
10 will do HD content. I got the software with a USB HD tuner. It works
good but has crashed once in a while on big files (8gig HD files).
Probably more of an editor then you may want. I im****ted Hi-8 camcorder
files (home movies), edited them and burned DVDs.
