At what rate is the LCD grid being updated (this question does not apply
to
non-LCD displays)?

What I want to know is why can't they simply make the TV update the LCD
grid
at exactly the frame rate the incoming video has (as long as the video
frame
rate does not exceed the rate the TV is able to process ... which should
be
at least as wide as from 23.976fps to 60fps).
