|
| Do any native 60fps DVD's exist? I don't think I've seen one if they
do.

I haven't specifically heard of one. I've seen DVD players with
progressive
output, and even with the implication it could do progressive output from
a
"regular" DVD. But where those players were, I had no way to test them to
see what progressive modes it would really do.

|
| I wouldn't think it is necessary with 24fps native display capability.

It would at least be necessary for a p24 video source, to have p24 input
capability. It could upconvert it to p48, p72, p96, or p120. But if
there
is no other need to have the upconversion (such as it being LCD and just a
basic display), then it should just update the LCD grid at the rate the
video input is providing the frames.

| I've been thinking 120Hz was used for 30fps material to amp up to 60fps.

| Maybe I'm just confused. Again. <scratching head>

You could convert p30 video to p60 internally and update the LCD grid at
60
fps. But I don't see the point. It could be updated at 30 fps and skip
the
extra hardware.

Too many people seem to still be thinking "in the (CRT) box". Displaying
p24
video _directly_ at 24 fps on a CRT would absolutely suck. It would not
be
due to the fact that there are only 24 frame changes per second. It would
be
the flicker. It's the same reason film projectors will flash the shutter
on
a 24 fps film at 48, 72, 96, or even 120 times a second (I hear that 48
was
common for a while and that some do 72). With CRT one would need to up
the
scan rate so the CRT traces at 72 fps for p24 video (71.928 fps for
p23.976).
But for LCD, this is not needed. The LCD can be "scanned" at 24 fps just
fine
and not cause flicker.
