absolutely buy an OPPO!

for these reasons:

1. the most robust DVD player that
    i've ever owned (OPPO DV-981HD,
    and very likely the other 2 as well).
    i've used my OPPO DV-981HD heavily for
    this past 15+ months without any issue.
    a MAJOR accomplishment for any disc player!

2. the most options on playback, regardless
    of the disc type

3. there are other upconverting units for
    roughly .5 to .66 the cost, but my best
    guess is that they don't have 1/2 of above

4. the OPPO's also all have the ability to
    play SACD and DVD-A discs, and as far
    as i know, none of the less expensive
    players does this.  if you want great sound
    (either standard CD stereo, or mutichannel
    (5.1 Video or 5.1 SACD)) buy an OPPO!

5. short of several credible people showing up
    and giving some sup****t to one of the ~$100
    upconverting players, get an OPPO ($150-$230)
