Sounds kind of clunky to me. My HD files frequently exceed 4 gigs even
after the commercials have been deleted. Can your system play the
separated files seemlessly back to back or do you get an
'intermission' ? I take it PS3 can't use
NTFS.

Well I thank You for Your standing applause in reverence of my
revolutionary
Blu-Divx conversion method!;-)
You can play any HighDef film on your PC in any size made with my method.
If
You want them on the PS3 You have two possibilities. You can make a
Blu-Ray
from the original(haven't done so yet) or You can play a H.264 or DivX;-)
file from an external HD.
Only thing is that the file has to be served from a HD formatted in FAT32
..(Maybe you could stream it over WiFi too, I have not had the time to
test
it, but I will some day)
If You split it in two, You of course have to switch files like You did
with
2 CD made quality DivX films. Only it is much faster to switch on the
PS3-1
or 2 secunds.(Compare with the old time 15 minute intermissions)
But You can easily have every film playing from the PS3 as one file. If
You
use the DivX default for 1280 x 720p which is 4000 kbts, then every film
on
this planet will fit the 4 Gigabyte limit.(typically 3 Gig)
If You insert a big Hard drive in the PS3, which is sup****ted in the user
manual(You can Use the 40G as well), then the PS3 will im****t any film
file
from an external harddrive and into its internal harddrive, by a push of a
button-im****t!-done!
PS3 will then serve as a high Def film "jukebox"
