for sound discs, OPPO units play DVD-A, SACD,
(both multichannel), as well as stereo CD discs

and do it very very well

from what i've seen of reviews of dedicated
CD players, you'd need to spend something like
$500+ to get something noticeably better
(assuming you've got the hifi setup, and the
  ears, to notice)
