Yep, similar pickle to be in. Engineer at KABC told me he lives in an
apartment and gets his OTA reception as a bounce off another building
and he, too, uses the Winegard SS-1000. He is of the opinion I won't
have a problem with the antenna when KABC goes to 7 DT. I have my
doubts but it will be interesting come 2-18-09.
As Phil said, 7, 9, 11, and 13 will operate digital on those channels
in LA. Fortunately the Winegard HD7694 is much smaller than a low-band
VHF antenna. 35 vs 110 inches wide and boom length of 65 vs 110
inches. I'm afraid my wife will still find it to be too large. If they
would make the SquareShooter a little larger to have more guts in VHF
