8VSB and QAM have similar multipath issues.  All the strategies used to
fix
the problem for 8VSB could, maybe with a little redesign of the
parameters,
be used for QAM ... if QAM were used in an environment that had that
issue.

My preferences for OTA modulation would have QAM just ahead of VSB, and
COFDM a distant 4th.
