> TLC is giving "Trading Spaces" an extreme makeover -- bringing back
> former host Paige Davis and enlisting the brains behind "Hell's
> Kitchen" to revive a show that was once a ratings powerhouse on cable.
One step forward and one step back. As the article says, the show was
once
a ratings powerhouse. It stopped being a ratings powerhouse when they
started screwing with it, adding gimmicks, trying to make it "edgy" by
placing undue emphasis on the outrageousness of Hildi and Doug and any
other
designers who were more concerned with making a statement than in creating
a
decent room.
What they really ought to be doing is returning to their roots and
recreating what was good about the show when it was popular. So the step
forward is bringing back Paige. The step backward is involving the Hell's
Kitchen people. They should be kept the hell away.
